I am looking to restore my 1 tb hard drive 2.5 bay drive.

Now about a month ago it crashed during a game i was trying to play.

I would like to see if i can get it working again.

My computer management will detect the hard drive on my desktop. It is a SATA port.

And i am having a hard time trying to get it to reformat the drive.

Oh and i can not check the drive for errors.

    Why?

So, I am assuming this is an internal drive (that is, not in an external enclosure). So you should be able to install it as a secondary (not boot) drive in a computer and use Disk Management to partition, format and run Error Checking on the drives. Have you tried that?

Not sure I would even try - not with the prices of new hard drives these days. I have to "trust" my hard drives. I am not sure I could trust that drive any more to keep my data safe. While a drive can fail due to many reasons with several of those not directly pointing to the drive physically failing (which typically indicate permanent damage, or imminent/impending permanent damage), your persistent problems suggest to me something more than just a one time occurrence. In other words, you might be able to fix this issue, but I would not "trust" the drive to stay fixed for long. It sounds like it is dying to me.

See this for ideas to fix the raw status. And if you can fix it, great! But watch it carefully and be ready to replace it.

Where are you seeing the drive letter? Typically, you can just right-click on it and select Format.

I use gparted for tough to crack drives.
No need for install, just take it slow and double/triple check before commit.
Link to the manual for the live disk.

The iso can be downloaded here

and burned to disk using imgburn

imgburn is ad supported. I use it off line and/or block the ip address.
Never knew windows until dabbling in GNU/Linux.

I finally gave up on the hard drive and can't stand working on it no more i spent all most 2 days on it and it would not reformat for some reason. Some thing about the reader head being bad i ran test after test and still for me it is a major let down.Be cause i have been dealing with computers for 19 years now and when i can't fix some thing. It bug's me a little bit.But than i say the hell with it and buy a new one and not worry about it.

The reason why it got fried was from a mmo i tried to play and it completely fried that hard drive. It was Tera online mmo game and will never play that game again. If it can make your hard drive go into melt down than i will not play it ever again.I have played lot's of mmo's and never had an issue like this be for.Sure some ingame bugs here but easy fix's but this was beyond fixing.

And i never keep senstive data on any of my hard drives to risky.

But thanks for the help.It takes a lot for me to ask for it.
