    Hey gang,

I'm having a problem with my compy that I've never seen before. When I power it up, the comp shuts itself down whenever it spools up the harddrive. I tried unpluging the power to the HD and rebooting. When it comes back up, it shows the ASUS splash screen for the mobo, and then freezes. I tried another HD in the computer, and it freezes at the same spot. It had ran just fine before hand, and the ASUS PC Probe showed that my voltages and temp's were fine. The computer had shut down on it's own the night before this happened, while I was playing a game of CoH.

I took my HD to a local compuer store that I trust, and they said that they didn't find a problem with it, other than it was slightly warmer than normal.

I thought that perhaps it was the power supply, so I went home and disconnected all the accessories from it except for the Harddrive, one CD drive, and the CPU fan, so that it would have a low load on it. I booted up, and had the same auto shutdown problem.

I'm modestly familiar with computers, but this problem has me stumped. Any suggestions/help would be great.

    Can you access the bios?
When you post again give us some details of the motherboard model, age etc.
