Need hel wth mi VAIO

I have a Sony Vaio VGNA-150, which was mi first computer, then she blacked out.. i re-installed Win XP, and it was good, but all the drivers were gone...when u try to download them from sony, they say that "those drivers are not ment for that pc, please chek model"...i will really appreciate if you could help me, im starting in this biz and have found it preety hard though..so if you would lend me a hand it will beeeeeeeee of much apreciation..thanks and btw, pretty sweet forum!


also, i think that pc went through reparing process..and i think the hard drive is not the original...

 

Which drivers do you need? Are you trying to download from here? Because a quick glance at these drivers look like they match your Everest report. Which ones in particular are you having trouble installing?

 

everyone of them, when i downloadthem and try to install them they always say, this driver is not intended for this model...the ones that I need is the video card, the intel chipset, the controls of the computer...

 

On the label on the bottom of your laptop are there any other letters in the model number?

 

sorry for my tardiness i was at college!......the model on the bottom reads: PCG-8QEL.....


other thing, i once installed ubuntu on this laptop and it ran smoothly and also the grafics looked great, the only thing is that i need it to be windows and the graphics look funny...

 

I don't understand why the Sony drivers won't install that is definitely the page for your model. Very strange.

Hold on it doesn't look like that was the right link for your driver. It appeared to be but on a different page it says there is no driver for the 855pm available. Let me look around a bit more.

Hi again, sorry it took so long but I couldn't find an exact driver for your motherboard. If you still need drivers I believe I found a solution.

I think the problem with Sony site has to do with your BIOS not showing your correct model number. I don't know how that occurs. Anyway according to this thread there is a workaround that will allow you to use the drivers off the Sony page for your model. I am sure you have got the model number right both numbers you gave go to the same model; it is just a quirk in some Vaios that make it so hard to use the Sony drivers.

Download and install Universal Extractor. Then for each driver from the Sony site for your model VGN-A150 you will need to extract the EXE file to a folder and find the installation EXE within it. Double-click that file to install the driver.

So for example the chipset drivers from Sony are in the file IN-G10070802FO04US.exe. You would start Universal Extractor and drag IN-G10070802FO04US.exe into the line for "Archive to Extract" it will fill in a name for the destination folder and then you hit OK. Accept the default extraction method and the program will create a folder IN-G10070802FO04US. Inside that folder will be a TEMP folder and inside that a Drivers folder. The file infinst_autol.exe is the setup file for your driver. Double-click it and it should install your chipset driver without doing the model-check which was giving you the error.

Oh this thread here gives some idea of what order to install your drivers. This is not for your model so some things may not match up. You might want to just look at the bold sections to see the order that person used for driver installs. You may have another reference as far as which order to install so use the link or not as you like.
