    hi,

This problem started awhile ago...has been on and off so please bare with me if this is to long. im at the point of either smashing the computer to pieces or buying a new one...and i cant afford a new one so..... :cry

    *using vista
    *adsl+2
    *netcomm modem

It started back a few months ago when i connect my modem to the ps3 in another room in my house. re-connected the modem to pc and the pp light would not show and was unable to connect to internt. i rang the modem support and they lead me through the fix. It lasted about a week or so then it started screwing up again. The ppp light would drop out and the connection in network and sharing centre would drop out...

this went on and on untill recently i purchased a new modem, filter for the phone line and restored computer to factory setting. I come to find out that the new modem is supported by tpg internet...i download the firmware that allows me to connect, but the modem slows my connection down i then start getting this error message when trying to connect to the net OR while im actually connected:

"The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading"

this happens every now and then and only on a select few sites....i search google far and wide to find solutions but nothing works...untill i find out it might be the AVG anti-virus link shield scanner, i disabled that and it seem to work for about a day or two ...but now i get it more freguently and just today my ppp light started dropping out again aswell as losing my network connection:

the globe is missing from the two computers icon.

when i go to windows diagnositcs it gives me this message:

    http://img25.imageshack.us/img25/6823/****shit2.jpg

i do not understand that message...i have to then click reset the adaptor...which sometimes works but other times will not fix the issue, i have to turn my modem off then on again to get it working...but then only lasts x amount of time before it drops out.

please can someone help? im losing it....

    Hi

Will need to rename your image files as certain words and language is filtered out, as not approprieate, we know PC issues are frustrating.

    What browser you using?
Is your Windows Vista fully upto date?
Has your phone company or ISP checked your line for errors/excessive noise?

Is your modem far from the phone socket as in do you need to run a long extention phone cable from socket to modem?

What you could try if is a random thing is to turn off IPv6, to do this goto Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections and right click the network LAN icon and choose Properties > in the middle box is a list of items, find and untick Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) and click OK, then see if it happens again.

    oops sorry about that.

Um yes my modem is far away from the wall socket. using firefox, havent asked them to check the phone line...altho have been having trouble with the phone actually.

i deleted AVg and now it seems to be working fine tho.

    Hi

Would get them to check the line, but if working with no AVG installed then good, but do you now have an alternate antivirus application installed? if not try Avast which is also free.

    thanks for the reply again.

the problem seems to be gone while surfing the net, well atleast when i eventually get connected. it seems to happen now when i turn my computer back on. also coincides with my phone not working and saying "no line".i have to take the plugs out and switch around...turn modem on and off and fart *** around before i can connect...

ill give my isp a ring tho and let you know what the go is...

oh btw here is the images from before...maybe they have the answer?

    Hi

If your landline is experiencing issues at same time, then this is likely to be issue, so hopefully your ISP/Phone company can fix this.

Also do you have a software firewall installed (not the Windows one as that is saying its connecting ok)? if so then disable it and test again.

What modem/router is it (make and model number)? just wonder as many of them have build in firewalls that this maybe a faulty modem/router, check with ISP.

been trying to ring isp they have been busy the last two days and unable to take my call...

no i dont have any other firewall installed. ive tried the two modems now and both of them will randomly disconnect. when i go to diagnostics it mentions somehing about the domain name serve configuration. is there any way i can get into these settings? and post a screen gab so you guys can tell me if something needs to be changed there.

modem 1: is netcomm nb6plus4 adsl+2 modem router

    modem 2: belkin, f5d5630au4

    Hi

I do still think this maybe in part issue with your phoneline, so keep on at the ISP

But you could using the settings to setup your internet connection (should be able to find these on our ISPs website), double check them in the modems settings the manual for the Netcomm is here plus a quick start guide and the Belkins manual is here
