Hi for the past 5 months my PC has slowly been getting worse and worse. I have reformatted my pc about 10 times in that period to try and get it back to the way it was but nothing i do seems to help it. Whenever i browse the web all of my browsers simply crash. Whenever i play a game (SWTOR) i drop frames alot and eventually leads to the whole pc crashing to the blue screen. i do not have the best computer but from what people tell me i shouldnt have any of these problems. I just need to know why it keeps on doing this and if i should replace anything. Thanks and hope someone can help me
(i have 8gb ram but it says 4 because i took out 4gig to see if it made a difference but it didnt)

    Welcome to Maor Geeks!

Two programs I'd try using to diagnose the problem:

Malware Bytes. If you or your mom are accidentally downloading malware-infested files or programs, this should tell you. If this is the case, go to the Malware Forum for advice.

Advanced System Care. Run a complete scan (check all the boxes). Pay special attention to the hard drive scan - does it show problems? When done, reboot the PC and the registry defragment will run. Re-run the "Disc Doctor" utility in the "Toolbox". If it still shows hard drive problems, you will likely have to replace the hard drive.

    Hope this helps. :)

The fragmented files may slow the PC down a very small amount; however it is the "Disk Errors" I was most concerned about.

As djdmoney863 suggusted, I would try using a Linux CD to start the PC and (if possible) access the Internet.

If the PC is much faster and doesn't crash using the CD boot disk, there's still a slight possibility there is a problem with the hard drive that Advanced System Care didn't catch.

If you have access to a different working hard drive and a Windows install disc, I would try installing and loading it in the PC (using Windows 7, you do not have to activate for 30 days). If the problems diappear then the old hard drive is defective.

Is the PC still under warranty? If so, the manufacturer should replace the defective hard drive and provide a new Windows disc at no charge. If changing the hard drive doesn't work, my suspicion is the problem may lie with the motherboard.
