need help badly

I had kernel version 3.7.0

on my ubuntu system due to a repository installing it, this was causing issues so i removed it using the guide here http://www.itworld.com/software/327675/install-or-remove-linux-kernel-37-ubuntu-1210-or-1204

But now I only have option to boot into mem test did I just break my system or is there a way to fix this even via and external boot?

ps: the last good working kernel I had was 3.5.0-26 generic

That is where I would start.

 

Do you have any other form of server on your pc besides ubuntu? If so, you can go to system configuration...click "start", type "system config" (without quotes), in your system config, you should have: general, boot, services, start up ,tools! Under boot click on the one that works and set as current/default, click apply and ok, it's up to you if you want to restart! Hope this helps!

 

I got it to work its in the middle of rebooting now I hope this works I had to chroot in and reinstall the kernel I am currently trying to load the system now thanks to the #ubuntu irc channel for their help.
