I can not seem to get Bios to M-Flash.

    Motherboard MSI 870A-G54

Trying to flash it to update the firmware. To see if it will fix the issues i am having.

I don't understand what i am doing wrong.I can only use a USB fat 32 flash.

It's been a long time since i have flashed BIOS a good ten years +.

It is not normally a good idea to flash the BIOS to "fix" a problem. It is extremely rare for a BIOS that has been working to suddenly become corrupt.

When I look here for your board, the latest BIOS update is dated 11/27/2012. Are you that far behind? And note most BIOS updates simply add support for new products that came out after the last update. If not upgrading the hardware, a BIOS update is not normally needed.

You did not tell us what OS you have but I note on that page, the "Utility" used to update the BIOS is brand new from 3/30/2018. Are you using that?

It might be best if you tell us what your problems are that lead you think you need to update the BIOS.

There is no OS that's the problem.I can not get windows to install. There is no hard drive attached.

The system will reboot on it's own with out me touching any thing.I have tried switching out ram i switched out the Power supply.I have tested the both power supply's.

It will stay powered on during my ultimate boot cd and it will stay powered on during BIOS but will reboot when trying to install windows.

I think it's a Boot loop problem but can not figure out why.

I have the BIOS in your link. But it will not all install. It's giving me problems.

Now I am confused. If no hard drive, where are your trying to install Windows?

But the darn thing will not install. It will get half way through the install process then it reboots.

It seems like its stuck on some thing and i can't figure it out.

I have replaced the 550 watt power supply with a new 600 watt power supply. They both work fine i have tested them with a power supply tester.

The problem is,Is when i boot the system i try to install windows multiple times. It gets half way through the install process then reboots with out any warning.I have switched out the Ram 3 or 4 times. Each ram chip is coming up as 2048 i have 4 of these.I have switched out the cables for the hard drives.

When i run my ultimate boot cd windows xp the system will stay on for hours with out rebooting.

When i keep BIOS opened up it will stay on for hours as well. But when i try to install windows on drive it will reboot.

I am not sure if it's stuck in a Boot loop thing or if there is some thing else going on with the CPU.The problem all so is it will not give me a beep code when it reboots.I think the whole system is running fine there is just some thing i am missing. This system has never given me an issue be for.

I will list the parts i have below.

Have you formatted the intended install drive with the correct file system, before attempting win7 install?
(assuming there is nothing on there you wish to keep?)

Some one is talking about flashing here in the link.
    https://social.technet.microsoft.co...2c/error-code-0xc0000225?forum=w8itproinstall

I've had the exact same problem too, mine was caused when i flashed the bios with an unlocked bios. I can boot into some versions of linux. I don't understand why I can't boot into windows or boot from a windows cd... Any ideas?

Here's where I'm at so far...

Product Name: HP Pavilion Dv7 Notebook

I am trying to flash the orginal bios back to my laptop. I no longer have the orginal hard drive. So I am using the external usb bios recovery method. When I boot the computer with the "Windows Key" & "B" pressed when powering on the computer I just get a blank screen the usb drive just has a steady blink, it doesn't looking like it's trying to read any files on the usb drive.

So my main question is why does it go blank? Is there any other ways to flash the original bios back on? Can I do it via dos? If do I need special switches included in the command line? Or can I just run the dos flash utility?

    So here's what I've got:

    HP Pavilion Dv7 Notebook
    Product Number: VM188UA#ABA
    BIOS Verison: InsydeH20 Rev. 3.5 F.1D

So below is a quick synopsis of my what I've done so far. This all started because I wanted to unlock some features in the bios. So I headed over to bios mod's website & BDMaster a forum Moderator supplied me with an unlocked bios for my laptop. Well now when I try to boot to windows or boot to install a new copy of windows from DVD I get this error with the error code being: Oxc0000225

I"ve been trying to get into Windows so that I can use InsydeH20 flash utility to flash the original bios back and hopefully that will fix it. But I can't seem to get into windows to do that. I've tried like Windows to go, WinToUSB and I'm working on Windows PE now in hopes that works.

I've even tried installing windows XP but the install fails.

've tried downloading the HP UEFI Utility and used it in combination with Andy's tools. I don't think my bios is encrypted, but I did use the tool to find out the name that I should use for my bios. It suggested E.BI? C.BI? C.BI? So I'm assuming I just put two copies in the H:\Hewlett-Packard\BIOS\Current\ folder one being E.BIN and the other being C.BIN -does that look right? I didn't think so... but I did try just having E.Bin and C.Bin in the current folder and that didn't seem to work.

So anyways I plugin the flash drive with the computer off, and I press & hold "Windows Key" and "B" and power on the computer my screen goes blank and the USB drive just does a steady blink there is no sound or anything else that occurs.

Donovan over at Donovan6000 (A Bios Recovery Blog)

Suggested I used the names of 363E.bin 363C.bin 3658.bin 3659.bin 365C.bin so I tried those names, now all I'm doing is putting a copy of all those in my current folder on the flash drive. When I boot up I still get the blank screen when trying to flash the bios. It's as if it's not loading the HP Flash recovery utility, and the flash drive just does a steady blink. So any ideas as to why this is happening?

*To note under my battery it says 363-200

Am I doing everything right? Is there supposed to be other files on the HP_Boot flash drive besides the ones that it puts on the flash drive? Because all I'm doing is copying the bin file and renaming it to 363C.bin and putting it into the current folder. I've also tried some other names that I listed above.

I can still get into bios if I need, which is the unlocked version , but can't boot to windows or install windows because I get a oxc0000225 error.

I can boot to some versions of linux, but I don't know much about linux

Ok im assuming that when you say you can boot versions of linux, you mean from a live USB... yes?
    If so, everythings working there!

Since you have been trying to install 7 from a disc (and XP), it could be an issue with the bios and your optical drive.

Can you make a bootable usb and try a win7 install from that? (You should be able to create an ISO from your current disc)

Personally, I would leave to bios flash alone for now so you dont end up bricking your mobo!
Its got to be an issue with the bios and its ability in sensing your hardware, so if the linux USB works, I cant see why windows should not install using my above suggestion.
    Good luck Wile

Yes i do use Bootable usb pen drives.I can all so use one my my drives as an external bootable. But the problem is my laptop does not support that type of function.

It can only create the bootable install using rufus.

try making a DOS boot USB http://www.bootdisk.com/pendrive.htm
Did you reset the BIOS to defaults - turn off secure boot, maybe?
The second problem is you flashed a hacked BIOS and expect it to function like the factory BIOS did.

Uh the bios version is right off the MSI site.

The Bios version i have is 17.7 and is fully unlock able with that MSI board. That is the reason i bought it back then due to extra options that MSI made to the bios functions.

Dont get me wrong, these guys work hard to bring us bios features we cant get from an OEM.
    Thats a cool thing......sometimes!
In the end though, its still a hacked bios, its coders might be working on the "next best thing", thus having no time to perfect the kinks in what they portray for use, by us all.

It's not malicious, its just most likely a case of unchecked scripting/code......but lesson learnt :)

I would concentrate on getting windows installed, then have a rethink about your bios flash options.
