    Hi,

I have a toshiba satellite notebook that I want to boot from other media. It seems to only boot from HD. I check the bios and the boot order is CD->USB FDD->HD.

I have suspicions that the CD may not be working. I tried to use an external USB CD or a bootable flash drive, but it does not boot from those sources. Both CD and flash boot other machines.

    What could I do?

Put the USB stick in before you turn on the computer. Turn it on and I believe F12 gets you the boot menu. Use the arrow key to highlight the device you want to boot from and then press enter.

Put stick in before turning on laptop. F12 does nothing. there is a selection on toshiba boot screen to select media. When I select the usb stick, it hangs with a flashing cursor.

I'm trying to boot ubuntu, but it happens with other boot sticks also, not just linux. The sticks that I try work in other computers.
