need help finding Xp sound driver for an emachines w3609. please help!:)

My grams computer messed up a while ago and she had vista, well i had to wipe her computer so i installed windows xp because i have the cds for it. so anyways, she likes xp and all , but her audio wont work. I tried looking on the emachines website and they only have the drivers for vista, not xp if someone could please help me find the drivers i need to install so i can get her computer running so she can listen to music I'd really appreciate it her computer is a emachines w3609.

 

I downloaded the Vista driver file and looked through some of the .ini and text files trying to find some kind of ID/part number for the sound chip.

I found one referencing a 9539591r then did a search on the web for XP drivers for that Sigmatel number. Found these on Gateway's site, you can try installing one and see if it works.

You may also want to install the chipset drivers also:

I had a similar problem last week.

DL a driver if you can firstly.

CClean the old driver (IMPORTANT I Could not install the new driver while the "old corrupt" driver was in place!).

Reboot and use the "device driver missing prompt" to either navigate to a DL driver (desktop is easy to find) or connect to the net.

No joy........goto MS updates and grab the generic driver!

Get rid of the old driver firstly, nothing to lose as you have no sound!
