    Hi,

I have a dell inspiron 1100 running XP. At boot I get a BSOD, stop message
    0x00000024 (0x00190203, 0x833ADCA0, 0xC0000102, 0x00000000).

    Can you recommend a solution?

    Thanks

Stop 0x24 message indicates that a problem occurred within Ntfs.sys, the driver file that allows the system to read and write to NTFS file system drives.

First at boot up, keep tapping F8 and see if last good configuration will load.

If not, repeat and see if safe mode loads.

Thanks. I've tried that already. The stop message occurs in both normal mode and safe mode, it also occurs with last known good boot.

The only thing I can think to do is to attempt to repair the installation from an installation CD.

    It that right?

    OK.

I've repaired the installation using the Recovery CD.

Now I get the error msg the file C:\$MFT is corrupt. I'll try running chkdsk again.

At least now I'm able to boot.

Try Re-seating the RAM chips. Take them out and clean the contacts with a pencil eraser first. I have seen this before and it was a loose/dirty RAM socket connection.

    Hi Guys
    I'm getting the same BSOD 0x00000024 (0x00190203, 0x8A980110, 0xC0000102, 0x00000000)
I have tried safe mode but still get BSOD
I have tried last known good configuration but after i get to the windows loading screen i get BSOD,
Earlier i managed to get in to prompt option and run chkdsk but it didn't solve the problem.
Laptop is ACer Aspire 5920 running windows XP
I don't have any disks that came with the laptop and am unable to access alt+F10 to restore my laptop I have everything backed up so am not worried about loosing files

pearbelle, don't hijack a thread - please start your own thread with your problem (even if it is the same problem). It's also not a good idea to resurrect a close to 3 year old thread.
