Need Help Fixing Windows Defender Error

    :wave I'm getting this error with window vista ... Windows Defender "Application failed to initialize: 0x80070006. The Handle is invalid" ... and I found this fix at this website .... at the bottom he has this fix, but I'm not sure how to implement it. :confused

    So can anyone tell me how to put this key into the registry? Thanks for looking. :clap

    Greetings, spirittoo.

    Simply do what the fix suggests: on a machine that has the same Windows version as the one you're working on, while in RegEdit navigate to the key specified (HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\WinDefend), right-click on the WinDefend key, click 'Export', name the key 'WinDefend' and save it to some portable medium (eg: flash drive). Then, on the problem machine, import the key.

    If you have the Windows disk for the problem machine, the same might be accomplished by running a System File Check, which might repair the corrupt or missing registry key.
