k, hi all...my problem is my uncle upgraded my comp. from windows 98 to xp pro sp2. since that happened my floppy drive appears to work, when i put the floppy disk in, but never is actually able to read it. Someone told me when i upgraded the windows, i didnt have all the updates for windows 98, so i now need the FAT32 from someone with windows 98, so i can install on my comp. for my floppy to work.

XP works great with floppy drives. No need for drivers, since they don't exist. Just need a good working drive, and a good disk. Though, I've burned through many floppy disks (3.5"). I still need them. CD's scratch to easily.

maybe you could try going in to the control panel and go into device manager and uninstall the floppy drive. Reboot the computer and it should automatically redetect it and install the drivers again. This may help it to work again.

Alternatively, power off the comp completely, remove the cabling from the floppy drive remembering which orientation the connectors go in, restart the comp so it doesnt see a floppy drive, power down again, reconnect the floppy and see if it works then.
