I am trying to decide but am unsure which of these is the better choice to buy as my new desktop. Which would u get? By the way the specs seem pretty much the same as far as I can tell.

Either the Gateway GT5220 Desktop PC: specs here at CC :http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Gateway-Desktop-PC-GT5220/sem/rpsm/oid/160299/catOid/-12962/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do

    or

HP Pavilion Media Center a1600n Desktop PC: specs here at CC: http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/HP-Pavilion-Media-Center-Desktop-PC-A1600N/sem/rpsm/oid/160199/catOid/-12962/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do

both have the option of a Widescreen 19" monitor, the HP also has the option of a non Widescreen 19" monitor. In the end they end up costing like only 10 dollars difference between the systems. The Hp has an Hp printer, the Gateway has a Canon printer.

I have the HP and I love it..

4 GHz of processing speed rocks..

It comes with all kinds of shit software pre-installed though. Like all pre-built computers.

Ahh.. Well I did not have very much time before to elaborate on the HP, I will try to do so now.

I got the HP about a month ago, and I haven't really had any problems with it.

The only problem I had with it was all of my icons on the desktop disappeared. Not the actual buttons, but the icon images.. As well as in the Start Menu.

To fix this, I simply deleted the secondary account I was on at the time and made a new one. (Always make sure you are not doing anything on the administrator account as you will surely screw up your computer somehow and not be able to start a new account from scratch)..

That had to be a software issue on my part, and I am confident it wasn't a problem with Windows Media Center Edition.

The speed on this computer is amazing. It comes with 1024MB of shared RAM (960 RAM + 64 MB video memory), and is very customizable.

This computer is great for multitasking and comes complete with a front-load multimedia memory card reader(what is the name for it?).. It has two USB ports in the front and 4 slots in the back.

It is extremely quiet compared to my old 333 MHz computer fans and I would highly suggest it.
