Need help-Installeed new DVD drive and I'm getting error messages

Hey Everyone Happy new Year

I have a dell XPS 600 and the DVD burner crapped out on me so I went and got a new Pioneer internal drive to replace it.

Now the drive that crapped out is the secondary one... It's the one on the bottom the CPU has 2 optical drives.. So I am assuming it is the "slave" drive.

So I took out the old drive then looked at the drive on top and it is set to "master" because there are 3 jumper slots and if you are facing the computer, the jumper is on the slot all the way to the right.

I am sure the old drive was set to slave, which would be the second jumper to the right. Both my drives only had 3 jumper slots.

Now this new pioneer has 5 jumper slots and I tried to make it slave by putting the jumper on the second slot from the right. I keep getting an error message on bootup. The error message is:

"Cannot Find Drive 5 Press F1 to continue or F12 to go into setup"

I don't want to mess around in the BIOS so I just hit "F1" to continue and the drive opened up automatically (it does that with every reboot), but the system DID detect it and it went into device manager.

Can anyone help me get rid of the error I'm getting?

Hey folks!

I took back the el cheapo Pioneer and got a different model "LG" and I hooked it up and it works!

I guess the Pioneer was defective. Piece of junk! That's what I get for buying the cheapest thing at the store. I hooked up the LG as a slave drive and my computer took it beautifully!

I will never go Pioneer again that's for sure.
