Need help installing a game controller device

I won this adapter:

Now its arrived and I've plugged it in the USB port and I went to run it but its not being picked up.

I emailed the seller and he said if I go to "Control Panel" and "Game Controllers" it should auto detect the 4 axis, 16 button controller (The N64 controller I'm using).

I've tried this but I don't have this option. I even went to "add" (and "custom") but I can't get the options to add a controller like this.

Can anyone help? I need to try get it sorted by monday or it has to be sent back.

 

I've tested it out on a laptop and it works on that... can anyone think why my PC won't auto detect it?

 

2 questions, does the usb port work? Also what os are you running on the pc and laptop?

Have you added something to you're laptop, that didn't make it to the desktop? A patch or something? Try just loading the drivers that were supposed to have come with it.

 

XP Pro or Home?

 

Pro and I haven't added anything to the laptop (as far as I know, its not mine so I'm not 100% sure)

Have you installed the drives that came with it? vs depending on preinstalled windows drivers. Also, have you downloaded all of the recent updates for win xp?

 

There were no drivers (The seller said none are needed) and my XP is updated, infact just incase I just downloaded the very recent updates but thats done no good.

I'm stumped.

Have you looked for drivers though? It shouldn't need drivers, but it should also be working, which it isn't

 

Leave it plugged in and run Windows Update and it may find a driver for it under Optional Drivers.
