Need help installing autoexe.bat file dos

I guess an auto exec file got corrupted and I need to re-install it. I was walked through once about a year ago and have totally forgot how. XTGOLD is installed. I just can't enter the database. No windows installed just dos 6.

Any help appreciated

 

at the prompt, type edit AUTOEXEC.BAT
it will bring up the edit window. Make your changes and save it. It will create a new autoexec.bat file on the system at the location you ran edit from.

the autoexec is jut a text file, you can make in on any machine with any text editor and just name it as such. then copy it to the root of c:

 

Don't fire it off to the repair shop just yet. Kodo has suggested how it can be done. MG can help and save you money. Bazza

if no autoexec.bat is present, the the PATH= parameter is not set, then edit.com wich is located in (default) c:\dos will give you a bad command if you run it from c:\


just *cd* to your dos directory and type *without the quotes* edit c:\autoexec.bat"

then create your *new* autoexec

Too late, back already up and running. Just needed to copy the autoexec.bat and config.sys files from a zip and overwrite the corrupted files, cost $50. This happened before, I just couldn't figure out how to do it as I was walked through the process using xtgold. Now that I have seen it done in dos, I stand a better chance of doin it if it happens again just using the dos commands.

After re-reading Kodo's post I see the "edit" AUTOEXEC.BAT, I just missed the edit part, doh. Anyway with the company at a standstill, and backlogging more each minute, the boss was getting nervous.

So thanks again, now to more urgent business, finishing up on a site that can make me money. Working with cgi-bin and affiliate linking. I've basically need to write up an instruction page for installing affiliate banners for linking Aphrodisiabeverage.com. You guys could make some extra cash with a top level payout of 50% and a two tier payout. I emailed to get it in the products here on MG and haven't heard back yet, oh well.
