Told my wife I wanted a new deck for xmas, so she got me one but its going back lol. Looking at alpine and pioneer right now and looking at bestbuy because its convenient. There are two alpine decks im looking at and just started looking at the pioneer stuff. I don't need every option under the sun but would like some. Ipod connection, mp3*, some outs so I can eventually upgrade the rest of the speakers and maybe add an amp or two.

Here are the 2 alpine decks im thinking about:

Its going in a 2005 Tundra double cab. Gonna have them do the install cause I don't have time to fool with it. Putting in a new floor in the master bedroom this week while the family is gone.

Also need a link to some good 6.5 speakers. Those are getting replaced next and maybe the tweeters that are at the window. Don't know how soon gonna depend on cost. I would like something that sounds good and won't break the bank. Also that will fit where the current speakers are and retain the stock look.

Any suggestions welcome, been out of the loop to long to know whats good and whats not neccessary.

    Thanks!!

Installers do make a difference with this stuff.

Having installations from Best Buy, I'd never do it again. Best Buy was also nice enough to cap my bass output on my speakers with bass blockers--without telling me until after it was done. It sounded sooo horrible.

I'd go with Audio Express first, and I won't even go to them.

The best installation I've ever had done for me was by The Specialist--but its not free.

thanks for the brochure and the "these guys suck at installs" lol!!

Now anyone else have any pointers on these decks? Im hoping to get it done this week while the kids are away.

You did not state if your truck has the JBL sound system or not. It does make a difference. Check with Crutchfield.com to see what systems will work, and plus the CSR's with Crutchfield, will make sure that everything will work for you before you pay for the sale. Better then going to WorstBuy and finding out you got screwed.

I'm partial to Alpine. Plus its HD radio compatible, which is the next newest thing. It would nice to have a somewhat future proof deck, plus it has the highest power output at 50w.

Now, you never get a full 50 watts, but its been in my experience in the past that Alpine is one of the more efficient companies in pushing the most net power to the speakers.

So, either of the two Alpines would work for me, but what you have toa sk yourself is...what would you use more? HD radio, which is subscription based, same as XM or Sirrius, or the capability to play MP3s and whatnot?
