My Dell 5150 desktop pc had a virus and extra nice person on malware side of forum was helping me remove it. See here: http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?p=1802741&posted=1#post1802741

Then it crashed????? I guess, it wouldn't let me back into windows. So I got a copy of Windows XP from Dell. I followed directions found on internet to do a clean re-install. PC got to the end of formatting the new partition and then crashed again. (Drives 1 and 3 not found...can't remember)

I'm wanting help to diagnose what I might need to get this pc running again. Please let me add I am not a computer wizard, I am a GOOGLER.....

    Thanks for any help.

To do a clean install you simply boot from the disk you got from Dell. Is that what you did?

Whats the system configuration? How many had drives?

Yes, I booted from the disk. If I power the system on, could you tell me where to get the information you requested? It has a cd drive and some USB drives, no floppy. It's about 7 years old.
