Need help!! Taskbar's not working!!

Ok, So about a week ago, the taskbar on my computer stopped working. Whenever I put the mouse over it, it just shows the hourglass icon.

I logged off of my account and went onto the administrator account, and found out that it works fine on the admin account.

I have scanned the computer with several virus removal programs, which all came up with nothing. I have fully updated all software on it, and have tried ending explorer.exe in task manager, and reopening it.

So, if you have any advice, it would be much appreciated.

Dell XPS 630i
XP SP3
Nvidia GeForce 8800 GT
Intel Core2 Duo CPU
3 gb RAM

 

Sounds like windows is damaged or there is more malware that got missed somehow.

 

Thanks for the quick help. It suddenly fixed itself, so I don't need any further help. I think it is a case of windows being damaged because there have been problems in the past with explorer.exe, but I have been able to fix all of those.

Even though it's fixed at the moment, I would like advice on what to do in the event that it starts up again. TY!!
