    Hi,

I can't uninstall IE 7 Beta 1. I went to the Add/Remove Programs list, turned Show Updates on, and it isn't there!

How can I unistall it? Appreciate any help.

    Try this:

Open the program file folder that contains Internet Explorer 7. Search for an uninstallation executable. Sometimes, running setup again will expose a remove function.

If that fails, I would search www.microsoft.com for an answer.

Then, as a long shot, I would try opening add/remove programs, hitting alt + w, ot the windows components, and seeing if it was listed there. If not, I would uncheck internet explorer, and click next. You could then reinstall IE 6, were it to work.

Yes you can get rid of it via add/remove programs. Just make sure that you have "Show updates" checked, to see it.

    Or by running:

    "C:\WINDOWS\$NtUninstallie7bet2p$\spuninst\spuninst.exe"

    As I posted within: http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=84287

Have you checked if you could uninstall it using Add/Remove Windows Components ?

Ack, miss read the original question.

    You said BETA 1.

What I posted was BETA 2.

Have you tried running, the follwing?

    "C:\WINDOWS\$NtUninstallie7bet2p$\spuninst\spuninst.exe"

or since you said beta 1:

    "C:\WINDOWS\$NtUninstallie7bet1$\spuninst\spuninst.exe"

    Hey guys,

Thanks for your replies, and sorry for the late reply but it was first day of classes today and I was busy all day  . Regarding your suggestions, I tried them all and none worked. I unchecked IE in the Win components, reinstalled it again and nonetheless IE 7 is still working.

@ theefool: I tried running the 2 codes you noted but it said that the folder is not unavaliable. I also looked for a uninstallation package in its Program Files folder, but couldn't find any and like I mentioned above I can't find it in the Add/Remove programs.

Is there any other solutions to try? I mean there must be another way to unistall it other than formatting windows.

I would really appreciate any help.

Did you install the public release beta 2?

Or did you get your hands on the unreleased beta 1?

Knowing which beta you got, will be quite helpful!

    It's Beta 1.

So, I assume you are a developer? Or did you get this by other means?

Other than that, please do the following:

Click START, RUN, then type in: regedit (press enter)

    Migrate to:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall

and export this key. Save this key, then add this file as an attachment. Either I, or someone else could help you on uninstalling this program.

Just remember that this was a BETA. Which means pre-released.

Welcome to the world of betas.

Also, what is the reason you wish to uninstall? Have you already tried just installing the newer version?

No, I'm not, but I am a Firefox Marketer and intersted in software marketing, GUI branding...etc. That's my major too :).

Now, regarding the regedit file, the size limit didn't allow it, so I uploaded it at rapid share. Here's the link:

    Thanks for helping out,

I only skimmed through this thread, but have you tried reinstalling IE6?

I doubt it will work, but it's worth a shot. We have the start up files HERE.

And have you tried a restore point?

Well, I'm unable to download that file. Are you sure the link is correct?

Unfortunately, I can't find IE7 within that file.

    So, try the following:

Click START, then RUN, then type in: cmd (press enter).

    cd %windir%
    dir /ad $*.* > delete.me | notepad delete.me

Notepad should display all your uninstallations for any and all xp installation patches/programs.

    Attach here.

So, even though, I've dealt with betas for dozens of years, it is interesting that sometimes things can backfire.

    Anyway.

First question. How did you get a hold of beta 1? Since this was a non public release.

    Now to your problem.

I've uploaded as an attachment a file that you should rename to runme.bat

Run this program. This should open notepad with a list of directories (folders). Upload this list here.

Ok, it worked. See file attatched.

Regarding the Beta 1, it's been avaliable on the web since they first annonuced it. I'm sure u noticed that. But this is the first time though I can't remove it from my computer; I installed on my pc before and it uninstalled fine!
