Trying to set up dual monitors. I read through three threads that were already posted - "using 2 monitors", "dual monitor & extend desktop" and "dual monitor help". So I am trying and after reading thru all the threads I think I understand it more. I'm guessing that even though win xp is supposed to support dual monitors in my case it isn't so I think I need to get some software to make it happen. I have a laptop (system info below) I just took an old monitor of mine and plugged it into the back of my laptop. According to the "help" when I go to the settings tab on "display" I should see a check box for "extend my win desktop onto this monitor". don't see this. Reading some more it's possible I need a PCI or AGP video adapter, but don't know if I have one and not sure how to check. Reading some more it's possible that I have an onboard video adapter and don't even know how to check if I have one of those. Please help. Send me in the right direction. I love to research problems and I'm willing to learn.

its the Fn or Function key that switches it, but that will only display the same thing on both monitors. that is there for presentations, etc. he needs the Extend desktop checkmark.
