Everytime I open certain folders containing pictures or videos an error pops up saying "Windows Explorer has experienced a problem and needs to close." This file is always included in this error:
(C:\DOCUME~1\Nico\LOCALS~1\Temp\a48f_appcompat.txt)Then windows explorer shuts down and restarts. Sometimes this is followed by Drwtsn debugger having an error as well. What could be causing this? I have run numerous anti-spywayre and anti-virus progs to no avail....any help??? I have included a Hijack This log in case it might help.

Edit by chaslang: Inline HJT log removed. READ & RUN ME sticky not followed.

It is unlikely that this is a malware problem and as such I'm moving this to the Software Forum. Note: A HijackThis log will not help you resolve problems like this.

Thank you, sorry I had trouble posting earlier so there may be multiple instances here, I apologize. If anyone can please help, let me know here is an update to the problem...

First, random folder when opened in Windows

Explorer that contain photos and videos would

    trigger a error message stating:
"Windows explorer has encountered a problem and

needs to close" referencing temp files

appcompat.txt and drwtsn.exe.mdmp, at which point

Windows Explorer would crash. Just now This

    window came up:
"Manages all components of Trend Micro Internet

Security. has encountered a problem and needs to

close. We are sorry for the inconvenience"

    referencing-
    C:\DOCUME~1\Nico\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER8ad4.dir00

    \SfCtlCom.exe.mdmp
    C:\DOCUME~1\Nico\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER8ad4.dir00

    \appcompat.txt
    -and also-
    szAppname SfCtlCom.exe szAppver 16.05.1022 and

    szModname PccScan.dll Modver 16.0.1015 offset

    0000e760

If I had not run out of DIY options I wouldn't be here, I have read countless threads with very similar issues but no resolutions and most of them are from 2005 and are not relevant. I need specific help.

What program do you use to open pictures or videos - that is possibly the program causing the errors.
appcompat.txt is a text file with info to send to MS detailing the error

Have you opened Admin Tools and looked at the system errors at the time the crash occurred?
