Need help with .EXE files in XP

Hi, I am new to MajorGeeks and would first like to say hello to all members!

My question deals with finding a program that hopefully is freeware that I can download from MajorGeeks.

I have a partition on my computer of 98se and XPpro. When I run my Norton AntiVirus in 98se it locates some .EXE files within XPpro (since it does a full system scan) that can not be fixed. If I run Norton AV in XPpro it will not locate these .EXE files.

I would not think anything of this, but I have had issues keeping my Internet connection in XPpro. I run several programs on both Windows versions such as: Ad-aware, SpyBot S&D, MRU-Blaster, and SpywareBlaster. All of these programs I try to keep updated on a weekly basis to ensure proper use of my computer. And they make a world of difference.

Here are some of the .EXE files that Norton AV is picking up:

A0131077.EXE
A0131243.EXE
A0131281.EXE

I really think that this is why I can not keep a connection in XPpro since Norton AV gives me details of Adware issues on all the .EXE files.

So... is there any type of program that can locate these .EXE files that I can not fix in Norton AV in 98se and get rid of them?

Hi elknarps and welcome Have you tried an independent online virus/trojan scan like trendmicro? Sometimes
the online tests can come up with a solution. You might also try pest patrol it sometimes finds stuff others miss.

 

Disable System Restore in XP, reboot and see if they're still flagged in 98. Once you're system is clean re-enable SR.
