need help with lost sound

I had sound fine, until I got nosey and checked out the windows DL available
I chedked out what was available, for me and dl them and now I have no sound. It seems coincedentual that the DL and loss of sound happened at the same time, but I must conclude that the dl messed with my sound card or the sound on my motherboard, which is an asus with sound on board. I dl the following updates

If it is possible that anything I installed messed up the sound? And how do I get it back.

Will need to know if you have a sound card or are using onboard sound? Also which model ASUS board do you have? As your DL's are mostly Media oriented it is quite likely some settings may have been changed. Is there a little speaker in your taskbar by the clock?
If so double click on it and a window will open with volume controls and a mute box at the bottom of each. Be sure none are muted and you can try turning up volume. I personally turn them all up and use speaker volume to control volume. If you have a sound card you need to be sure the onboard sound is turned off in the BIOS as it will conflict with the sound card.
