need help with masters and slaves

Heres the thing i have 160 gig IDE hard drive and a 250 gig SATA hard drive

i want to make my SATA be my master and my IDE be my Slave

does any one how to do this???



then i have another problem too..
See i had my 160 gig on my old pc and crashed so it was only able to partition 131 gigs so after i take all my info off my that partition i want to try to get my 16o gig...

do i just have to format it and make it and try to make it go to 160 or wha do i have to do

To do that check in back of the IDE drivers there is a little jumper
but the jumper to slave.

Then the others sata will be the master....

the SATA does not tell me which is the master or slave it just tells me
SSC PN2 OPT1 OPT2 thats what instead of master and slave

 

What do you mean when saying master and slave ?

There is a PATA disk controller for the PATA disk, and a SATA disk controller for the SATA disk. The two controllers are not aware of each other.

It is the motherboard which decides what disk controller is used when booting the machine. If you want to configure what disk controller to boot from, then you should be able to configure it in the motherboard bios.
