need help with modem driver install

I upgraded my xp to Vista but Device manager is showing yellow check mark next to PCI Simple Communications Controller-shows no drivers were loaded for modem. Went to eMachine website and downloaded correct Vista driver for my model (T3522) and followed all instructions, it seemed to load but Device Manager still shows no modem loaded, new driver is not listed in C: \cabs folder. The old driver is still listed, v4.0.13.0 (xp), neither versions appear in the add/remove window or driver details, etc in Device Manager. Please help, I use Netzero dialup.

 

so am i right in assuming you've used a second pc to connect to the internet in order to get the drivers that you have trialled now?

and - silly question i know, but have you rebooted after installing the driver for your modem? sometimes its necessary..
