Need help with my laptop....

Hi there people,

I am currently having problems with my laptop. I now cannot get any sound through the speakers, even when i plug in earphones it still doesnt work. It was working fine before. One more thing, when i start up my laptop just before i enter my password it makes this very loud noise similar to that of an un-tuned TV, but after that no sound whatsoever, whether it be music, video or games.

I was wondering if anybody knew how i can fix this problem.

Hi there, thanks for the info. Well the make and model of my laptop is a compaq presario 2100, running on xp pro not sure what service pack tho.... the problem started about three weeks ago, i did try to restore to a previous point and it is still the same. i havent added any software since the problem, but since the problem i did do an windows update to see if it would help but still didnt help. regarding looking at the device manager im not to sure how to do this....

 

Are you running on XP? If you are, just right click on My Computer, select Properties. This should open up a Properties box.

Look on the top parts of it, you should find a Hardware tab. Click it, then click on Device Manager. Check to see if there are any question marks on any of your hardware. If there are, update your hardware drivers.=)

 

Oh ok thanks... well i did that and it seems there s nothing wrong there... yes it is XP pro...

 

Hmm...it could be a hardware failure in this case.

LOL.... the first thing i checked was the volume... hahaha ive had no sound for weeks imagine how stupid i would feel if it was just the volume being muted LOL...
