Hi guys, and thanks for your help. I'm working on a week old dell inspiron that my sister bought and then proceeded to download everything the bloatware asked her to. So when I first opened it up, a few programs constantly popped up deterring me from accomplishing anything, so I ran the read and run me first steps. After I deleted some programs I didn't want/need now every time I reboot I get an "STService.exe - Unable To Locate Component" error message that reads "This application has failed to start because STLog.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem." then I click ok and I get another window that reads: "ST Service Scheduling has stopped working a problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available" so I then click on the "close program" button. All the scans ran fine accept that combofix must have deleted some registry keys because I can not get online ever since I ran it, so I continued on with the steps. It is running vista sp1 32-bit with celeron dual-core T3000 @ 1.80GHz 1.97GHz and 3 GB ram. I feel like there are still traces of an antiVirus called Alpha Antivirus that I deleted, which was also causing the bulk of all the pop ups deterring any pc use in the beginning, and it is still slow. Please look at my logs and help me get this laptop back on track, thanks again in advance for your help! Ok the guys in malware removal say im all clean and to ask for help in the software section. so any ideas?

thanks for your help guys, your suggestions got the popup problem to go away but i still cant get a network to connect. if i try to repair a network connection problem it will give me the 1st window i have uploaded a pic of, i know its not the first option, so i try the second and it gives me the 2nd window i have uploaded. su i try these options to find out 5 of the 7 network drivers have a yellow "!" over them and properties says that " windows cannot start this hardware because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged (code 19). also if i click on driver details it says there is no driver installed for this device and if i click on update driver it says that the driver is already up to date. so is this a registry problem and if so how do i fix it? thanks again!

If it is that new, it would probably save time to just do a restore to factory conditions.
My Dell Dimension uses ctrl + F11 at startup; check your documentation to see if that works on the Inspiron.

    g'day nomogoog

have you tried deleting the device from device manager and restarting your computer and let the found new hardware manager run to reinstall the driver scratch.

    hey there,

Check out the running or non running services, it might allow you to see if a service is stopped and also what dependancies each service has and what it relates to.

Quickest solution / answer is to backup and scan any user data and just follow what plodr's suggestion is. Return to factory defaults. Then install what is required and chack out an application called Windows Steady state, I have only just discovered it. Dont think it has windows 7 support though, Vista maybe.. can basically according to what I have been reading allow you to clear any user data from the system and restore it to a previous state. Two partitions on the harddrive are required... dont format and reinstall windows though... your hard disk may loose its recovery partition... the one plodr :wave mentioned.

Good luck with this one guy l8r:wave
