Need help with processor upgrade

I was given a Dell Dimension L700CXE and would like to upgrade the processor. The motherboard is a CA810 #AA-A53824-302 rev A01. The processor is a Intel Celeron 80526/700mHz/128mb cache/66Fsb/370 pin/FC-PGA . I maxed out the allowed memory at 512 mb. I would like to know which Pentium or Celeron processors are compatible. I am awaiting a heart transplant and cannot afford to purchase a whole system.

I had looked at that but my motherboard vin was not listed. Because it is a Dell system they will not provide processor support as they do not recommend upgrading them. Do you know of someone or place where Dell's are discussed? Are the two vin's on the table for Pentium III's the only ones that support them. My board # is AA-A53824-302. Any further help or guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

 

Try going to The dell support web site....http://forums.us.dell.com/supportforums/.....or go to www.powerleap.com and it should be able to tell you a little more upgrades you can do. the dell support web sit has changed a bit so you might have to search a bit to find an answer. But I'll see what i can do to help.

But it's going to be my guess that you can only go up to 1 Ghz at best. Maybe 1.2 -1.4 with an adaptor for powerleap. Heck I have at least 3-5 of them laying around here. Ebay has them pretty cheap 40-50 bucks. But hte adaptor will probaly be $100 bucks or so! Good luck!!

Thanks alot for your help. powerleap gave me all the info I needed and then some. If your feeling generous it stated that a Pentium III 1 Ghz (SL5QV)/256KB/FCPGA/100FSB will work. Thanks again.
