Need help with quicktime PLEASE!!!

Hi all, I've got tons of video clips I have made with my digital camera and I used to be able to view them on my computer without problems. Now when I try to check them out all I get is a green/blue squiggly lines, no picture but the sound works. Not sure what happened, only thing I did recently that might have something to do with it is I downloaded the latest iTunes with quicktime and installed it. I deleted all of that and just downloaded the player itself and it still does not work right. I really need some help with this, I've got a lot of family memories here that I cannot view and it is worrying me to death. Please help if you can. Thanks in advance.

 

Did you uninstall the previous version of iTunes and QT prior to reinstalling the newer version.

I had to update iTunes on one of my childrens pcs and after much searching discovered that issues can and do arise from installing newer apple versions over old ones.
