Need Help With RAM

I'm looking for a program that will tell me what kind of Ram or Dimm sticks are in my computer. I have 2 Gigs of Ram but I don't know WHAT they are and I would like to buy more.

Does anyone know of a program that can tell me what kind of Ram I have?

Try the on-line scanner at www.crucial.com.

It will tell you what you have installed, your RAM maximum and suggest suitable RAM chips for expansion. It will even give prices. Where you buy your RAM is up to you, of course.

Before you buy extra RAM, download and install FreeRam XP Pro and run it for a few days. It will tell you how much RAM you currently have FREE with your installed RAM.
If you have plenty free then installing more RAM is just a waste of $$$.

Good for bragging, but not much else.

Unless you are heavily into multi-tasking, serious gaming or video editing (or similar intensive stuff) then extra RAM is usually not required, or more importantly never used.

I installed an extra GIG of RAM to bring my laptop up to 2 gigs. :cool
I very rarely use more than 500-600 megs, so up to 1½ gigs sits un-used.
The extra Gig was unneccessary in my case as my computer needs, and uses, are fairly basic not being into gaming, etc. Bazza

I have a serious gaming machine and I do a lot of video editing as well. I went to that website and was able to find out what memory I had and am using.... went to Best Buy and bought 2 Gigs more for $85 bucks! So now I have a 4 Gig system... Perfect for the new game CRYSIS coming in November.
