need help with software

I'm in need of some assistance. Today I downloaded two different programs,..and have questions re: both. First is a free antivirus program,..called antivirus personal edition. Does anyone out there have this? I was wondering it it also scans your email,..incoming and outgoing? I have norton antivirus but it expired in December and it made me nervous and this one said that it had updates available. I attempted to email them(the company) but it wouldn't go through,..and their site is in german,..says it has an english version,..but wouldn't work for me!! Anyway,..if anyone can fill me in I'd appreciate it. Also does it only scan when you schedule it? And the second program is Ad-aware 6. I read about it on this site and thought I would need it if I was ever going to dowload any music. So,..I ran a scan and they came up with 66 items. Now can I just pick and choose what to get rid of? I know the advise others were given was to post all on here and someone would help ,..but I think some of them have my real name on them,..so not an option.(at least not those ones anyway!) I know the cookies I can get rid of,right? I am new at this,..(can't you tell???) but I am trying to educate myself by reading sites like this one!! Also,..anyone know if IMesh is a good site to download music off of? Safe or not? Makes me nervous,..well I'll be anxiously awaiting a reply!!

 

Also get Spybot from MG's d/l section. It will pick up different stuf. Just worry about the items marked in red. Ad-aware stuff can usually be deleted without any worries. Just use the backup option on both because you may have software that uses a file.

I use Zonealarm as a firewall and AVG antivirus. Other's will give differing opinios as this is always a hot topic. There is a recent thread on this, but I can't find Strange. Also make sure to get the update file for Adaware

Remove everything that Adware has found. It auttomatically puts yor deltions in quarantine.Leave the items in there .do not dispose of therm.
This way if you have problems later you can always reinstate all or one item,Yes I agree also
install Spybot,Run and any thing in red can be deleted. This program also makes a backup.
Imesh leave well enough alone its loaded with spyware.Use Kazza lite.As far as firewalls I.ve been using Kerio 2.1.4 been with these firewall since inception.Very easy to set up
