Need help with sound on xp

Hi everyone I install winxp over win98 and I can not Play Music
can anybody help me please.

Check Device Manager and see if your soundcard/chip is listed with no errors.

If not, you will need to install the correct driver.

If you are unsure of your hardware, use something like EVEREST.


BTW, what do you mean exactly by you cannot play music, and do other sounds come through the speakers?

 

Nope there is no sound at all.

 

Then follow my earlier suggestions.
