Dowloaded above, I'm very much a novice. Do I just open this program and run (hit optimize button) while I'm online? I've turned it on and it never seems to complete process (although I haven't left it on for more than an hour). Also, does this help my computer speed? I have windows Xp, 56k modem, 128mb, 40 gb hard drive. Thanks

I've never had much luck with memory managers, but others swear by them! As for the program running for an hour, that seems a bit long. Looking at your computer specs., I would recommend getting more memory, as I consider 256 megs the minimum for Xp, and that is with everything set to "classic" status. Hope this helps! :)

Almost forgot, Welcome to Major Geeks! :)

Same here. My experience with them leads me to believe that the whole concept is a crock.

The ones I've used (which don't include WinRam Turbo :( ) have always launched as system startup.

Try hitting windows key + r (or click start --> run) to display the run dialog. Type 'msconfig' without the quotes and hit enter (or click ok). On the startup tab, check to see if your program is in the list. This will tell you that it is executed at startup, and that you probably don't have to interact with it at all.

Another way to check if it is running is to hit ctrl+shift+esc. This will bring up teh task manager. On the processes tab, you should see a thread (as its called) that cooresponds to WinRam.

You do seem to have process of a manual start down pat, though.
