Need Help,,,XP Upgrade

Help,I just upgraded to XP Pro from Windows Me every thing when well,all is working fine but. It's my Nortons AntiVirus 2003,when I did the upgrade a window came up and told me to unable my AntiVirus so I did and proceeded with the upgrade. Now I try to enable it and it will not let me. I get and error message that say Windows cannot fined C:\Program Files\Norton AntiVirus\navapxve.exe.
So I think if I uninstall Nortons and reinstall it I will be ok,,,,,,the Computer will not let me uninstall it in add and remove programs. I get this message from add and remove,,,,,,Error 1606. Could not access network location ::\Cocuments and settings\All Users\Desktop
I think its a simple fix and also I cannot download programs,,,,,,as you can tell I'm new to XP Pro

A upgrade from ME to XP is a no no Its always best to start with a clean install so that your not bringing all the problems ME comes with. Not saying you did the wrong thing, just saying I wouldnt recommend it as your bringing ME's problems along.

Your going to have to run Rnav and get rid of Norton completely and reinstall it.

Please download Rnav

This tool will cleanup remnants of Norton AntiVirus. When running this tool it will prompt you when you run it "Would you like to exit now and try this" click NO. Now, Select Norton AntiVirus 2003/Norton AntiVirus 2003 Professional and click OK.

Note: You will be prompted to reboot when this tool is complete, please do so that settings can be applied.

Let me know if you have any problems doing this.

 

The Rnav will not run,,,,,,,,,I download it and click it to open and run but it will not,,,,,whats stopping it

 

What does it do/say ??

 

It does nothing ,,,,I doulble click the Icon and it just blinks once and nothing happens,,,,,,grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

 

I'm starting to get pis_ed here and thinking about formatting and doing a clean install

Thanks Steve, Reboot into Safe Mode and try the tool again. Let me know.

 

I've been to those links and tried everything,and still would not work. So I formatted and done a clean install,everything works very well not (knock on wood). Thanks for all your help,I think I was better off with a clean install....

A clean install is for sure the best way to install WinXP.
