need help !!

The story goes like this ..

I booted the computer and it seemed to be slow. I checked the task manager and realized multiple instances of Drwtsn32.exe running. Anytime I try to start a new program another set of instances were triggered.

I tried to reboot in safe mode and run msconfig but realized the problem persisted in safe mode too.

I treied to recover using a windows boot disk but every time the files load and setup is about to start windows for installation the system crashes with a message "system stopped to protect the computer"

Now the situation is, windows boots normally but never reaches the desktop, if i try to reinstall windows it crashes as soon as the setup starts windows.

Any way I can clean boot and recover the system or data ??

Lot of possibilities there. You need to run our read me first guide if you want to try and save your operating system and files.

If you want to clean wipe, you should be able to boot safe and do backups. From there, to reinstall totally clean you want to wipe the master boot record then recreate a new one. This will destroy everything on the drive. I had great luck with SuperFdisk:

Use a boot disk, then wipe the partitions you see and then choose create or boot from Windows CD and let it create the new partition.

Thank you Major !

The silly think about my notebook is that I don't have a cdrom on it. The USB drive I was using would not load the drivers for me to use anything.

So finally I opened the laptop, took out the drive, hooked it as a secondary on another computer. Backed up the data. I will be doing a clean install now.

I guess I should be fully online in next couple of days
