    Hi all,
Please help me with my query... I have two 250 GB hard disks, due to system slow, I tried reinstalling my OS (Vista). The installation was stuck in-between and I restarted the computer and tried reinstall again, this time I got message that setup is not able to get the drive information, so I disconnected the secondary hard disk and tried re installation. The setup was complete successfully and windows were up and running on the primary hard disk, however after restart when I plugged in my secondary hard disk, the partitions on the hard disk are not visible. I checked the Disk management, the hard disk is shown as Dynamic and offline. It is giving the option to change it to basic however it is saying that all data will be lost. I do not want to loose the data. Is there any possibility to retrieve the partitions. I have already tried to reinstall the OS and nogo.

Sounds like you corrupted it during reinstall ... reload the Vista CD, open command prompt after booting from it and type

    bootrec/ fixmbr D:
    bootrec/ fixboot D:
    chkdsk /r D:

(Assuming that D: is the letter allocation of the second drive)
