Hi I need help? What are the best free anti virus, malware and spyware sites to use? I am just learning the computer and on a real limited old age budget. Or what should I get to get the best protection for my computer its a xp. Thanks Sharon

Hey granny, i couldn't agree more with kestrel's advice on avoiding Mcafee & Norton, They are worse than useless in some aspects imo.

Anyhoo, for a free AV i would have to recommend Avira, it's detection rates are always up there with the best.

Although i do recommend giving kasperskys free 30 day trial a go and consider purchasing it, as it is THE best AV imo, and the one i use, i used to use Kaspersky internet security suite but it has became a bit of a bloated mess so i just use the AV now [Kaspersky is rivalled only by NOD32 as far as im concerned ]


For a free firewall, it has got to be comodo imo, although that is based mostly on the gui, as ther are many firewalls that are just as secure

Malware bytes anti malware & Spybot seach and destroy are the two general Anti-malware scanners i would recommend
[except Kaspersky users cant have spybot installed]
