    Should prob be in hardware forum

    SDR = Single Data Rate

    DDR = Double Data Rate

    DDR and SDR have different pins and different emmory bus's

    Thats the short explanation.

    This
    Might help you

    If you ever look at a memory stick there is a bunch of metal going along the bottom. The number of those is what I am talking about, there are different numbers on different types of memory. The bus is more complicated but its pretty much how info is transferred between different parts of the computer.

    oo thanks, so if there are more metal things on the buttom the better? and DDR is better then SDR so theres more metal things on the bottom of DDR?

    The motherboard in your computer is designed for SDR or DDR memory cards. They are not interchangeable, if you don't have DDR slots in your computer then you can't use it. Download Everest (link: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4181.html ). It will give you the all the info on your computer, both hardware and software. Make sure you know the right kind of memory for your computer berore you try to buy any.

    In Everest, click on the Motherboard icon, and on the next screen, click on the SPD icon. In the top window ( titled Device Description) will be a list of all your installed memory cards. In the bottom window will be info about the highlighted card, including the memory type and memory speed. :) If you want help buying memory, or for anything else, be more specific in your thread title, so people will know what you want.:) The only advice I can give you is to make sure to buy the same type and speed (at minimum) as the memory that is in your computer now. You will probably want more info than I have, so I will let someone with more experience help you. It may take some time for the right person to find this, so be patient.
