Ok heres the deal for about a year now my computer has locked up on ocasion or evern rebooted. Sometimes i get taken to Bios and in red letters it tells me that my computer hung for improper CPU speed here is my stats fom CPUZ

    AMD athalon XP throughrobred (1700+)
    Voltage 1.648
    Family 6 Model 8 Stepping 1
Ext Family 7 Ext Model 8 Revision B0

    Core Speed 1466.7
    Multiplier 11.0
    FSB 133.3
    Bus Speed 266.7

    Mother board A7V8X-X
    Bios revision 1012

    DDR SDRAM
    768 MB
    Frequrncy 166.7
    FSB +33mhz

I have two Kingston Ram sticks both PC3200 (200MHz)

I hope this is what you all need to determine the PSU

    +3.3V = 20A
    +5V = 35A
    =12V = 16A

    -12V = 0.8A
    -5V = 0.5A
    +5VSB = 2A

I thought i had fixed the problem when i baught a new heatsink and fan and applied thermal paste but today i went to install a 2800+ and after installation i did not get anything no POST or anything at all sometimes the Comp will work for a month with no problems then all of a sudden it will lock up and i will not be able to get POST. i can restart the sucker it seems a hundred times before i finally get it to work only to see it lock up again. anyway any help is appreciated

I just went into Bios and checked temps at idle they were

    MB 30C / 86F
    CPU 33C / 91F

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

I am pretty positive the problem is with one of the RAM or how they are installed on the motherboard, if I am not mistaken you mobo support dual-channel, right? Also have you messed around with any of the BIOS settings? Is your mobo version to most up-to-date (not necessarily needs to be but checking)?

Lately mobo manufactureres tried making it easy by coloring the RAM slots ith the same color for dual-channel compatible DDR SDRAMs. You might have put the RAMs in the same colored slots thinking just cause they are the same size, type and heck even same brand they'd work fine as dual-channel....not!
I am assuming at least one of the RAMs is good and suggesting this:
Test your system by running with just one of the RAMs. (make sure you always unplug the power cord before opening the case and touch a grounded metal object such as the power supply unit first before touching naything else inside the case).

    Here is a hint:
Random system reboots are more likely to be PSU caused.
Random system errors and complete lock-ups (freezing) are more likely to be RAM caused.
Note: when running dual-channel DDR SDRAMs, they have to be tested for 100% dual-channel compatibility....so buy only those that are tested and sold as a dual-channel RAM kits, never mix them yourself. Same make/model doesn't guarantee anything.
Also I noticed you system FSB is 333MHz but RAM is PC3200 which is 400MHz (200MHzx2). I think yours is an Nvidia Nforce chipset so it is ok but for VIA and SIS chipsets stick with RAM that is same speed as the system bus....
