I just recently put a pc together and I am having a problem regarding the power.

    Here are the stats:

    3.2 ghz p4 extreme
Assu p4se board with wifi card
    soundblaster 4.1
    eztv tuner
    230w psu
    2x 80mm fans
    120 mm fan
    1 gb memory

Here is the thing you turn it on it bouts up, but it shuts of after 2 min.

Even when you go into the bios it still shuts off. I don't know what is wrong with it. All the devices are connected correctly and all the power connectors are installed correctly. I don't know what to do. Can someone please help?

Your PSU does not put out alot of wattage. I would download a power calulator (try seaching this site, and failing that, google) and see if your PSU is providing enough power for your system. Consider an upgrade. 230W just might not be enough for your system.

Aye I would upgrade to atleast a 400 Watt...with a CPU like yours, and the amount of memory you have, something tells me you like power...meaning you will probably upgrade your video card eventually as well...I would not settle for anything less than 400 Watts.

There is a 450 watt for $50 Free Shipping, and no Tax...

Hope everything works out for you

It's not so much the wattage that is important, but the quality.

I would rather a good quality "low watt" power supply, than a high watt poor quality one.

The market is flooded with very cheap, high watt power supplies that are of very poor quality.

does the existing power supply have the 4 pin connector that powers the cpu?

    if not thats the problem.

not enough power. you must get the supply with the 4 pin connector.

Thats a nice little site....however....I think it might be a little inaccurate...

I entered in all my components and it told me I need to have ALTEAST 360 Watts.....however....the manual to my A8N SLI-Deluxe suggest that for dual 6800 GTs...i need to have a MINIMUM of 500 watts...and im already running ONE 7800 GT....
