While looking for the built in CD player in XP ( Didn't find it :( ) i found a feature in WinXP that will have windows read to you.

In WinXP go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > Accessibility > Narrator

I found out that if you click on a link, when you have a certain feature turned on in narrator it will read it to you, how would i go about having it read webpages to me?

This would be very helpful when i'm lazy and i want a long article done by some news site read to me. I tried to get it here on the forums to work, but i had no such luck.

Any of you guys know how to do this?

Just tried it. It works but the voice is terribly annoying. I didn't do anything special to start it. Is yous system speech capable?

Hi, I can't help with the web pages. It says to point to article but of course the pointer does not work at least at the forum.

You can change the voices by downloading more from MS.

    Peace Mal

Really? That will help if there are more voices. Only way i saw it to read to me was to copy and post the article into notepad.

Where can you download them? I searched at Microsoft for "Narrator voice download" No luck :(

HI, Look for screen readers at the MS web site.

I have many voices using MS agents but I am not certain they are the same thing.

The first line is on the popup when you start Narrator.

There is another good program called Read Me Plus but I think it is shareware. Never used it but it was featured in Langalist recently. Peace Mal

yuck... I see what you mean about that voice. Definately computer generated sounding. If I close my eyes, can I pretend it is HAL reading to me?

HI, There are a lot of different voices available for talking programs. Unfortunately I am pretty deaf now and not a lot work for me. I do have computerised hearing aids but still have to rely on lip reading to help me out.

I have a talking clock that also sends messages and alarms and use it a lot but not for continuous reading. Peace Mal
