Need Media Center Help

I've got Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit edition that comes with the Windows Media Center built in. My problem is that I have an aftermarket DVD watching software that I like to use and it's not of any importance. The real problem is that when I put a DVD in it automatcially opens Media Center and it's getting old fast. Can anyone please tell me how take Media Center off its auto-exe thing that it's doing?

Which version of Windows Media Player are you running? I have Version 11. So here's a suggestion: Open WPM & look to see if you have the classic menu bar which lists, File, Edit, etc... If you don't see it, right click on a blank space in the bar that lists Library, Now Playing, etc... Then click on Show Classic Menus. Then click on Tools, Options, & then the Tab that's labeled "File Types". Once here, uncheck the file types you do NOT want WMP to open...in your case, "DVD Video", etc... Then click on Apply & OK. Restart your PC just to be sure. What media software are you planning to use for your DVD's if not WPM? Just curious. Please post a follow-up to let us know if this works for you or if you need further suggestions.

that doesnt help me any...wmp isnt opening it automaticaly. its media CENTER, not media PLAYER.
