I need to be able to:
    stream netfix,
    use wireless internet
use my MS 2007 office (which I have the CD for and use currently, I have no reason to use a more advanced version of Word/office, I have a USB-CD that should work with a new computer?)
    -have a few USB ports
    a HMDI port.
at least CPU U7300@ 1.3 GHz, 4.0GB RAM and a moible intel 4 series express chipset (or equivalent
-I just had a new HD put into my computer, so I have a about 600 gigs, so I think I could just have the dude put the recently bought HD into my new computer

I ordered the current computer I am using off amazon and used it for about 1-2yrs with no issues, till now when my computer will
    -turn off
    -get a fuzzy screen

I talked to the computer guy about the above problem before I had the new HD put in, he didnt think it would fix it
I just want a laptop that is easy to use and reliable, but also that won't cost me more than $400
I looked up laptops via consumer reports and I dont see anything
I ike what I have, Im tempted to just have my computer guy fix it
    dang it

Sounds like a power supply problem to me. At first thought cpu overheat or graphics but if you reboot problem is solved ..for a time. That and the unknown sound issue lead me to believe it is a power issue. Most retailers way overcharge for power supplies, so if you decide to go that route shop around online and use OEM if available...or try and borrow one that is compatible. If it is an HP - Altec Lansing, the mother board was poorly manufactured...Don't see make and model mentioned anywhere:cool Imagine you have tried it without any peripherals attached, and also has same issues when run in safe mode...

    Greetings, watchntv...

If you do decide to go the new computer route:

Best Buy, Newegg, all under $400.

Do your homework and read the reviews and specs. Don't buy online until you've found a similar model locally and have put your hands on the machine (ergonomics is much more of a concern with laptops) - when you find the one you like, try to find the best deal (and best warranty!) either locally or online.

I turned off all the stuff in the start up via msconfig, I dont have the problem often EXCEPT when I run netflix or hulu.com

    why is that?
