I have a 6 month old EVGA GTX 260 65nm Graphic Card, the stock fan is starting to make noise at start up, the Card has a Lifetime warranty and I could RMA it to EVGA, however I would like to just replace the Fan assembly if that is possible, I would like to replace it with the same setup that is currently there, 1 fan / internal - I see plenty of external fan/hs assemblies but nothing like the "stock" set up -

This is what I have -

    Thanks

you won't be able to get that exact stock cooler unless someone is selling one ;)
    Just RMA it.

If you were to replace the hsf you would void the warranty.

Thanks everyone, I guess RMA is the only choice - when it gets worse I will take care of it -

Okay from your description either a bit of crud has been sucked in and is causing the noise or the bearings are starting to fail. You could try removing the card, jamming the current fan with a pencil etc (to stop the bearings from being over worked) and then using a decent vacuum cleaner to hopefully suck out any potential crud. Trying sucking from the inlet, above the fan and then finally exhaust. If the noise persists then it may be bearings and you will need to monitor the card via GPU-Z 0.34 so it doesn't get fried. I would RMA it asap.

There's usually a sticker or some type of seal that must be broken in order to remove the entire cooling assembly. On the newer 200 series of Geforce cards, removing the cooling assembly is a very complicated project. It's not like the cards of a few years ago where you'd simply remove 2 or 4 screws or spring clips. The 200 series has about 20 small screws of different sizes and numerous heat sinks (front and back) and lots of plastic to be removed. Not recommended. RMA the card. EVGA is really good about returns. I RMA'd an old 7300 about a year ago and they sent me a brand new 8600. The whole process took about 12 days from when I filed online and mailed the card to rec'g the new one.
