Title says it all :p.. I'm looking for a new PSU to support my PC. The current components in my PC at the minute are

    Processor: AMD Athlon x2 6000+
    Graphics card: GeForce 7950GT
    RAM: 2GB DDR2 Dual Channel 667mhz
    Hard Drive: 500GB SATA
CD/DVD Drivers: 2 DVD writer drives
    Sound Card: X-FI FATAL1TY

Could anyone reccomend my a PSU that would be able to handle all of these components , I don't really want to spend too much on a PSU. I currently have a 300w but I know it isn't enough...

    THANKS
    ELLIS

well first of all, don't fall into the hype that bigger is better... its not, its a waste.

A descent power supply is going to cost about $100. Don't put into a $20 cheapie, you risk bricking your system.

buying direct can save you a good chunk of change, i recomend pc power and cooling

Hi, I don't have any specific models to recommend, but you may want to take a look at the 500-750W range models from Silverstone, Corsair, Thermaltake, PCP&C, Enermax and Seasonic. These are generally good brands and their units are made by reputed OEMs like Etasis and CWT.

With 600-700W, you'll have decent room for future upgrades. But do check reviews for individual models since quality and performance can vary quite a bit between models even from the same brand.

Heres a good PSU for only $90 if you dont care about looks.

It got a great review from jonnyguru.

"...it does put out enough for any one video card no matter how high end, and I would venture to say that it could easily support a pair of Nvidia 7x or ATI x1900 cards"
