Need Opinions On Best File Recovery Software?

Hi all,

I am helping someone recover (if possible) their photo files they lost when doing a system restore (to a previous date, not a Factory)

I've had him try Recuva but MG didn't have a download so I went to tech radar. After running it, he had zero files show up. I tried it as well on a flash drive and got zero so then I tried Deep Scan setting and got a bunch, but all in red (not restorable).

Is there a reliable, and hopefully as simple as Recuva that will do the best job of restoring (if the files are still anywhere to be found)?

System Restore doesn't touch that data.

 

That's what I thought too Max, but his files are missing he says? I'll check again with him. I did ask him to do a regular search, then asked him if he was sure the files hadn't been moved etc.

I'll ask again, but I still will probably need something other than Recuva to try though, any thoughts?

Something isn't right.
I have used Recuva to recover files from a formatted flash drive.
And I just ran Recuva from the Recycle Bin's right-click menu and it lists 5462 files.
I think the files may not have been deleted. Open Options > Actions and check Scan for non-deleted files.
