Need opinions on new build

A guy at work is still using a 533MHz PII as his main PC, and the other day asked me if I could build a new one for him. There's a $1000 budget, and he's looking for rock-solid reliability rather than cutting-edge performance. My list doesn't include a monitor or an OS yet as he's thinking of keeping his 19" CRT and he doesn't want to use Vista, but will look for XP. If anyone has any questions, opinions, or advice, I'd appreciate it.

Why not go for the 7600GT with the leftover money

 

Because the leftover money is what he'll be using to buy a monitor (if he decides to replace) and OS, and if I can build him a suitable system for less than his max budget I will. Plus I like to have a little wiggle room for upgraded CPU heatsink/fan, extra case fans, etc. All he plays is Jane's F/A-18 and a few FPS, so the 7600GS will be way more than adequate and should do very well for any new games he decides to try. If he needs to upgrade down the road it's a simple matter, and I'd probably buy the GS from him for my own stock of parts.
