I've got to buy a new motherboard that supports AVG. While I do that I'm going to also get a new processor as well a new power supply. I've got an idea about the processor I want but am not sure what kind of power supply I should get and not sure if the motherboard is that good, so if anyone can give me some suggestions I'd appreciate it.

    Here's what I have...

    Processor - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16819115003R

    Motherboard - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16813185086

Power Supply - I've been looking at SeaSonic but I'm not sure about anything yet. Suggestions and advice would be nice.

I'd like to spend somewhere in the area of 400-450. I do play games but I'm not quite as hardcore as I used to be because of school.

The core 2 duo is a good choice, and quite a good overclocker, if you like to toy in that area.
The pc chips motherboard, I would avoid, personally.
I found Asrock motherboards pretty good - But ASUS, and MSI, are well reckoned.
Choose ram to suit your motherboard approved list, on whatever motherboard you decide on.
Be careful of motherboards that say core2duo ready, as to get the bios update for them, you usually need a dual core just to run the motherboard to install the updated bios.(either a cheap Celeron, or a dual core pentium - unless you have an old dual core spare)

For instance, I have a Asrock Crossfire running mine, and I find it very good, but as I did not have a spare socket 775 dual core, I bought a celeron just to update the bios, so that I could put my core 2 duo in it - no problem , now, but if you look harder, and just be sure it's does'nt need a bios update before you can put your core2 duo in it (unless you have a 775 cpu to fit) - check what cpu it will need , if it will need that bios update. If it says it will fit without a bios update, then you will have no problem

When I said AVG I meant AGP, dunno why I said that. Thank you for the advice, I'd heard that PC Chips wasn't the best. Any idea on what I should be looking for when looking for a power supply?

Enermax, themaltake, are a couple of the best known names, but it is probably one of the most important part in a higher performance rig- 500w, and higher, but depending on the budget, - and ram costs.

Agp will be on one of the boards that I told you about as the later boards are going for PCI-e.
If you have an earlier 775 cpu, then , as I said, no problem.
You can buy a cheaper brand of psu, but read the reviews of them, before deciding.
I have to sign of now, but I will look in again, tommorrow.
You may well get more majorgeek help, from others here, so good luck.

Choose the software carefully, for Vista, if you want photography, games etc:
I did a post of links for Vista compatable programs.

If you keep to XP, then it's plain sailing.
With Vista, to get the aero proper effect, you need a good graphics card, and PCI-e.

You've been a huge help. I've got a few more questions (Sorry!)

If I bought a motherboard should I be looking at it just as a short term thing like 6-8 months and then look to replace the motherboard and video card next time?

Also what kind of warranties should I be looking at for all this stuff? Like 1 or 2 years for the processor, power supply and should I even get one for the motherboard?

    Thank you very much.

Generally the manufacturers give the warrentry periods, and you have to accept whatever- like lately, hard drives are getting 3 year manufacturer warrentry, where some only used to give one, I believe.
Asrock, Msi, Gigabyte, and Asus have not given me cause to return one , yet, so , you can be pretty sure that if you purchase from a good retailer, you will get good cover. Most of the well known motherboard manufacturers, are very reliable.
Others may find they have had the odd problem, but, again, before buying, look up the motherboard on the web, and look at different reviews, or tests on them.
If buying now, and you can get a reasonably priced motherboard with the facilities that you need, plus a few facilities you might use later, it can last you several years- there is no need to be right up to the latest computer wonders, as long as you don't buy- say socket 478 , or, similar older systems, as , although you could get several years out of them, the backup is /has nearly dissappeared.:(
Most retailers will give warrentry, on the purchase, if returned (RMA'D) IN THE ORIGINAL PACKING, AND WITH RECEIPT, as long as you contact them, and get an RMA number- unfortunately, I have found it can take some time, but retailers, generally appear to try to get your return custom, so they do their best.
Newegg seem to be well reckoned, and I find Aria.co.uk suit me pretty well.:wine
