Need some CD-R help

I got windows xp sp1 and a tdk 12 speed cdr and i plug it in and everything is hooked up right but its now working. the light is on on the cd drive its hooked up for master and its my only cd drvie on the pc. Any ideas on how to fix this? i had it hooked up b4 and it was working fine and i havent used it in about a month and today i went to use it and its not working. thanks for all your help ahead of time. What OS are you using?

What CD burning program?

 

i got windows xp sp1. and when i put a cd in the green light goes on but nothing happens its plug and play and my plug and play is on so it should work but it aint. when i check my computer its not there just my hdd's and 3/1 inch floppy

 

Does it show up in Device Manager?

If so, go to the properties of it.

What does the device status say?

 

isent under davice manager

 

Then you haven't hooked something up right.

Data cable may be loose, jumper might be set wrong...

Windows doesn't know your drive is there.

drivers installed properly too? also, is the ide cable going into the secondary ide port on your motherboard?

 

Then there may be something wrong with the drive.

As you said, it is plug and play.

However, the plug ain't playing

On that note, make sure the Plug and Play service is running on your computer.

 

it worked b4 but i dont know im just gonna take a rest from it and give it a day b4 i mess with it agian unless anyone knows whats up with it.

 

hmmm sounds weird. have you tried it on another computer?
